When your day begins with apple, blueberry and raspberry pancakes in a log cabin in the woods, and ends with a canoe ride across the river, well such a day is well its, I mean to say… actually I just don’t know what to say.
Earl Shaeffer, the 1st thru hiker took the canoe ferry across this very river. The ferry service dates back to the late 1800s. And for all the purests who worry they are not on the trail, the ATC requires people take the ferry because its just too dangerous to ford. They even put a white blaze on the bottom of the canoe to make it official. I am now at Northern Outdoors and was planning to get a short resupply and hike further. However for 11 dollars I can tent here, use the shower, pool and hot tub. HOT TUB?…
I hope you did a cannon ball into that hot tub! I can only imagine how good your body would feel after a little thermal treatment! It is great to read about how well the trail is treating you at this point and how content you are.
very happy for you
Eric

Your feelings cannot be captured on film – impossible to capture true bliss in a photo! My experience is I look either looney or drugged! lol Thank God for giving you such a day as this to make up for all the hard days along the way. Fantastic photography – especially the sunset!

Hi Phantom – My name is Cindi and my brother completed his AT thru hike, Thursday, Aug 20, 2015. His trail name is Wilson and I have updated his journey for him on trail journals. He enjoyed meeting you on the trail (although I am not exactly sure at what location – I believe it was around the 4th of July ), and mentioned you and your blog to me. I have very much enjoyed reading your updates and I am praying you have a safe completion of your hike. Thank you so very much for the awesome pictures you have posted from along the trail. Just wanted you to know how much your journals have meant to me, I am fairly certain it isn’t always easy to take the time to write your thoughts and happenings of the day, after a long and tedious day of hiking. Blessings to you as you complete your hike and as you continue on your life journey also. Cindi from Freeman, SD

I remember Wilson well from Pine Grove Furnace and the half gallon challenge. He’s a great guy, I’m glad to hear that he made it to the summit. Thank you so much for your prayers and support.
