THIS OLD HAT

I have an old hat that I have worn from the start. It still looks good, it keeps the sun out of my face in sunshine and most of the rain. I got it early and thought it was perfect. But along the way my hat no longer seems to fit. It is too hot when the sun is out and too heavy in the rain. My hair is longer, my hat now fits tight around the brim, so I push it up on my fore head to make it work, it falls short. I have changed I realized but my hat has stayed the same. Yet it tries so hard to fit but I am not the same. I dressed it up with some turkey feathers to make it look good but it doesnt change the basic problem. After I got to the top of the mountain today  I looked over the edge, I took off my old hat and imagined tossing it into the air like a Frisbee. I could see it getting caught in an updraft and floating harmlessly away. I envisioned it settling on a tree limb waiting for a hiker with the perfect head to start a new hike. But it was my hat. So I picked it up, figured some way to make it fit and slogged on.
and I am all the better for it

  1. Seeing old places, friends is good even tho hard – milestones in your ‘journey’. Don’t be in a hurry – take in all God is laying out for you on this walk. Amazing how He is leading you! Lori, when you read this, give me a holler! I need to hear from you : )

    1. A friend of mine taped a presentation I did back in the Fall and recently edited it so I could post it on Youtube.com. After going to the website, just search for Andy Davidson thru hiking thru life and you should get the 3 parts. The total presentation lasts about an hour. Hopefully it will make you laugh and think. Since I last wrote, I have to say I really miss the trail and miss conversing with y’all even more. I’ve been working on another project which I hope to announce in the near future. Until then I have dreams of jumping in the truck with Lor and Belle (our Springer Spaniel) and back packing out West this summer. (Just don’t tell my employer).

      Take care, “Phantom”

I can’t thank you enough for all the support. Feel free to spread the word and I apologize to some of you who may be getting this notice as a repeat.
